I had a great time designing this poster for the Miyazaki classic, Spirited Away. A haunting fairytale that can be appreciated on many levels, I wanted to capture the tone of the film while creating a unique style for the poster.
It was daunting to be hired to design a poster for one of Miyazaki’s films, his style is truly untouchable to me. I approached the challenge by playing with a spray and stamp style to give the poster unique character.
The colors of the film inspired the palette for the poster. The film marries both mysterious, deep hues with vibrant and playful ones to play off of the different tones of the narrative.
