CHILDREN'S BOOK FAVE: WHEN I WAS SMALL
This charming children's book tells the story of Dot, the mother of Henry, who was so small as a child she was able to experience fantastical scenarios in very matter of fact ways. I received this as a gift awhile back and have basically inserted it into most of my children's story times. It is beautifully illustrated by Julie Morstad, a new favorite of mine! Her clean line drawings and soft color gradients create a whimsical world, that has both a nostalgic quality met with a contemporary palette. Don't get me started on the fact that I basically tear up like a baby at the end of every read, unbeknownst to my sons, because of the thoughtful message of a mother wanting to be small again to experience the world of her son from his perspective. I highly recommend getting this book for yourself, your kids, your friends and their kids...it never gets old!
