IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD: SIGNAGE
Miracle Mile is the place we have called home for the last couple years. In my mind, pre-babies, it was a place you drove through to get from the westside to the eastside while avoiding the freeways. I'm so glad I've gotten to take a closer look. Steeped in cool old signage, a host of new cafes and shops emerging, and home to a wave of new street art, this area is brimming with inspiration and things to do.
To kick off my neighborhood tour, here is the historic 1937 deco-era Firestone Tires building on La Brea. You might also know it as "Arnie's Garage" from David Lynch’s Lost Highway, and actually recently deemed a landmark building. Following this is the not so historic, but still equally cool, Wash & Fold down the street whose signage deserves, in my opinion, the highest of accolades for use of typography and color.
