I was honored to be hired to make this family portrait. I knew I wanted to use mixed media, gouache, pens and ink, and that I wanted it very stylized, versus a completely realistic rendering.

This family portrait project really captured my heart, brushes, and creativity (a triple hitter). Not only is the family amazing, but I was able to break our the gouache, inks, pencils (and coffee!) to capture their likeness.

 As the theme song for Family Ties played in my head on loop, I went to work. I used imagery provided to me by the family but found myself having to do many versions of each subject before I felt I had truly captured them

The clients had me right off the bat when I saw their adorable baby and ridiculously cute corgi.
