Picture a place, tucked away in a sleepy cove, clear, warm waters lapping soft sand. Scattered old beach houses dot the surrounding mountains and weathered picket-fences ebb and flow, mimicking the calm shoreline. It's the kinda place that harkens back to a Gidget-era, where everyone just really wants a chance to get kissed by the sun and feel that calm glow on the back of their eyelids. Well it's Crystal Cove folks, and we were lucky enough to go there for our Fourth of July. We beat the inevitable crowds, who flocked there by 12, by getting there at 8:30 and staying til 1. We set-up camp close to the water and then ate a relaxed breakfast at the Beachcomber restaurant, literally right on the sand, complete with a killer Bloody Mary below (yes, that's a crab claw). We could not have asked for better weather, company, or all around experience. It was relaxing and exciting all at once. Hope you had a great long holiday weekend as well, back to work!
