Picture this, it’s one of those beautiful days in San Francisco, where the usual fog has lifted and it’s nothing but sunshine and sea breezes. You decide to take a casual ride through the city streets, starting in Fisherman’s Wharf (specifically at Columbus and Chestnut) to the midtown area around Hyde Street. Coit Tower looms behind as you loop around to Filbert Street. Your drive ends on the outskirts of the city at Guadalupe Canyon Parkway…all of this is done in 10 minutes and 53 seconds. Yes, this route is geographically impossible in real time BUT if you’re in a souped up 1968 Ford Mustang GT, driven by detective Frank Bullitt (aka Steve McQueen…this is a daydream after all) you can do it! I genuinely believe the city of San Francisco should consider doing $5 city tours in a re-creation of the iconic car chase from the 1968 action film Bullitt. Watch a snippet from the chase here, and daydream with me about this tour, careening over bumps, jumps and hills at 110 miles on hour...now go make it happen!
