I was playing with my Cheeky logo recently, painting some versions to add textures, then running it through some color combinations for branding ideas, and wanted to share the process here. It's always a welcome change for me to step away from the keyboard and put a brush or pencil in my hand again ( I think it also reconfirms why I'm still paying off my UCLA Art School loans). I think both activities, digital design and painting or illustrating, involve a different set of muscles that, when combined, really compliment each other. One is more analytical and precise, and the other allows room for exciting imperfections. In a day when everything feels pretty polished, I find it refreshing to see the handmade, flaws and all.
