COUPLES: KRIS + RITA

To celebrate the passing of another glorious Memorial Day weekend, I offer to you without a doubt the sexiest thing you will see all week. Above is the footage of the sublime Old Grey Whistle test performance of Kris Kristofferson and his wife at the time Rita Coolidge singing his hit Help Me Make It Through the Night, circa 1973. First off, your welcome. Secondly, there’s not a lot written about what occurred here so my recommendation, just take it in baby...it's really the only way to digest the sexy.

You should also take a listen to Sammi Smith’s soulful version below, it's crazy good and helped Kristofferson win the Best Country Song at the Grammys in 1971. Smith won Best Country Vocal for it as well.

If you're still reading...here are some extra fun facts: Kristofferson was a Golden Glove boxer, a Phi Beat Kappa college grad, and a Rhodes Scholar who studied at Oxford, and a commercial helicopter flier before deciding to make a go at it in country music by leaving all that behind and becoming a janitor at Columbia Records to get closer to the action. He and Coolidge were married from 1973 to 1980.
